Run 4 Cancer - About Us

Set up by a team of running enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Run 4 Cancer is a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.

We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. running) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.

Southampton Marathon 2021

First held in 1982, the Southampton Marathon was one of the most popular running events on the UK calendar in the 1980s. Sadly though, the event organisers were unable to continue with the operation and the event lay dormant for nearly 30 years.

However in 2017, the event made a stunning comeback! Sponsored by ABP (Associated British Ports), the Marathon is once again back firmly on the UK running calendar.

ABP Southampton Marathon
The event is the biggest running event in the city's history and the event regularly attracts over 10,000 participants. The event has a festival atmosphere and is very well supported by local residents.

The course is undulating with a challenging climb after mile 10. The route is really enjoyable, especially the sections over the bridges and the final section is also downhill. Other events include a half marathon, a 10km race and also a family fun run.
